A striking cluster of scalenohedral "dogtooth" Calcite in a soft milky-white tone, showing well-formed crystal faces and sharp pointed terminations typical of this classic habit. The piece stands out for its uncommon Italian provenance: the Gola del Furlo locality is far better known among collectors for celestine, malachite and marcasite, making an aesthetically pleasing Calcite cluster of this quality a genuinely scarce find from this ground. The seller reports a reaction under ultraviolet light, an interesting extra feature worth verifying with a UV lamp.

This is a fine cluster of scalenohedral Calcite, commonly nicknamed "dogtooth" Calcite for the sharply pointed, tooth-like terminations produced by this crystal habit. The crystals display a soft milky-white body color and are well formed, allowing the individual faces, edges and pointed tips of each scalenohedron to be clearly appreciated across the group. Growth is natural and the crystals show good definition, with the classic elongated, faceted look that makes dogtooth Calcite so recognizable among carbonate specimens.

What makes this specimen particularly noteworthy is its provenance. The Gola del Furlo, near Fossombrone in the Marche region, is a dramatic limestone gorge carved by the Candigliano river and today protected as a nature reserve, historically exploited as a limestone quarry. The locality is mineralogically documented mainly for barium-rich celestine, malachite and marcasite; well-formed, aesthetically pleasing Calcite clusters like this one are considerably less commonly offered from this ground, adding real mineralogical interest for Italian-locality collectors.

The seller also reports that this piece reacts under ultraviolet light, an additional point of interest worth confirming with a UV lamp at home. Overall, this is a piece that combines classic crystal aesthetics with a genuinely uncommon Italian locality, suitable both for a systematic collection and as a striking natural display object.
