This superb specimen from Fujian Province, China, showcases a dense colony of Spessartine Garnet crystals accompanied by Quartz, completely blanketing a pale feldspar matrix. The garnet crystals are of notably large size for the piece and remarkably well formed, with crystal faces so crisp and clean that their trapezohedral and dodecahedral geometry can be appreciated with the naked eye, without the aid of magnification.

The dominant feature of this specimen is its deep, intense red-orange color, which stands in vivid, highly photogenic contrast against the lighter tone of the underlying feldspar. This chromatic interplay is exactly what has made garnets from this Chinese locality so prized among collectors since they first reached the international market in the late 1990s.

The specimen comes from the area known among collectors as the Wushan Spessartine Mine, near the village of Tongbei in Yunxiao County. This locality is now historically significant: the mountain area has since become a protected zone, and the systematic recovery of mineral specimens there is no longer permitted, which makes genuine pieces from these classic old finds increasingly difficult to source on today's market.

An ideal piece for a systematic garnet collection, for display, or for anyone drawn to the natural beauty of vividly colored crystal clusters.
