This specimen is a striking gypsum crystal in its transparent selenite variety, coming from Roccastrada, a locality in the Grosseto Province of Tuscany sitting atop one of the largest gypsum deposits in Italy. The crystal displays a pleasing white to colorless body with several zones of remarkable transparency, through which the internal structure and growth details of the crystal faces can be clearly appreciated. This clarity is one of the most attractive qualities of the piece, giving it a glassy, almost glowing appearance when held to the light.

The overall crystallization shows a good aesthetic balance, with a well-developed habit that highlights the natural growth structure typical of the gypsum group. While Roccastrada is home to extensive industrial gypsum quarrying, well-formed and transparent crystals suitable for mineral collections are considerably less commonly offered on the specimen market, making this a noteworthy example of the species from this specific Tuscan locality.

With its combination of size, transparency, and clean crystal development, this piece is well suited for mineralogical and systematic collections, for display, or for anyone drawn to the natural beauty of gypsum in its selenite form.
