A striking Italian specimen combining two classic species from the historic manganese deposits of Liguria: numerous well-formed Quartz crystals are evenly distributed across the matrix, accompanied by abundant deep green Epidote crystals. The contrast between the translucent Quartz and the vivid green Epidote creates a pleasing aesthetic balance and highlights the mineralogical importance of this locality, whose mine has been closed to extraction and to the public for several years, adding to the appeal of specimens already in circulation.

This is a fine collector specimen combining Quartz and Epidote, collected at the celebrated Gambatesa Mine in the Graveglia Valley, Liguria, Italy. Numerous Quartz crystals are well distributed across the matrix, presenting the typical prismatic, hexagonal habit of the species, with faces that catch the light and add texture and depth to the piece. Scattered among and alongside the Quartz are many crystals of green Epidote, forming elongated prismatic individuals with the characteristic longitudinal striations of the species, their saturated green tone standing out sharply against the paler Quartz.

The association of these two minerals produces a pleasing visual contrast that enhances both the aesthetic and the mineralogical value of the piece: the piece is notable for the quality of its crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance between the two species, which together highlight the natural structure and visual impact of the specimen.

The Gambatesa Mine is one of the most historically important manganese deposits in Europe, active from the late 19th century and later converted into a mining museum. The site is currently closed to visitors and no longer accessible for collecting, which makes specimens like this one increasingly difficult to find on the market and adds to their long-term collectible value.

As with all specimens in our selection, this piece is 100% natural and untreated.
