This is a superb natural specimen of Pyrite from Campiglia Marittima, in the province of Livorno, Tuscany, Italy - one of the most historically important mining districts in central Italy. The piece displays a dense aggregation of well-formed cubic crystals, their faces gleaming with a rich brassy-gold metallic luster and flashes of bright silvery reflection where the light catches the sharp crystal edges.

What makes this specimen especially scenic is its bifacial development: well-defined cubic crystals are present on both sides of the piece, allowing it to be displayed and appreciated from virtually any angle - a feature collectors particularly value, since most pyrite specimens only show good crystal faces on one side.

Campiglia Marittima sits within the Campigliese skarn district, an area mined since Etruscan times for its copper, lead, zinc and iron sulfide ores. The historic underground workings of the district, including the celebrated Temperino and Lanzi mines, ceased large-scale extraction decades ago and have since been preserved as part of the San Silvestro Archaeological Mines Park, making fresh, well-crystallized specimens from this locality increasingly difficult to find on today's market.

Measuring 102 x 68 x 59 mm and weighing 705 g, this piece is entirely natural and untreated, and represents an excellent addition to any systematic or aesthetic mineral collection.
