This stunning amethyst geode comes from the Capurru Quarry in Osilo, a village in the Sassari province of northern Sardinia, Italy — a locality historically regarded as the source of some of the finest amethyst crystals ever found in Italy. The cavity is lined with sharp, well-formed quartz crystals showing the classic hexagonal prism faces capped by rhombohedral terminations typical of the species, arranged in a dense cluster across the pocket wall.

What makes this specimen particularly appealing is the coexistence of two color varieties within the same pocket: deep violet amethyst crystals stand alongside softer, rose-pink amethyst quartz, creating a striking chromatic contrast rarely found together on a single piece. Additional clear to lightly smoky quartz crystallizations complete the association, adding depth and textural variety to the overall composition and enhancing the aesthetic balance of the piece.

The Capurru Quarry, on the outskirts of Osilo, was originally worked mainly for gravel and today lies abandoned, its extraction activity having ceased decades ago — specimens from this historic pocket are therefore no longer being produced, which adds to their collectible value. The overall balance of crystal quality, color contrast and natural habit makes this geode a fine representative piece from one of Sardinia's most celebrated amethyst localities.
