Natural Quartz and Epidote association from the alpine locality of Val Gronda da Cavrein in the Val Russein, Disentis region, Surselva, Grisons, Switzerland. The specimen displays well-developed Quartz crystals with sharp faces and a light smoky coloration, hosting vivid green Epidote crystals on its surface and within growth zones.

The contrast between the transparent to smoky Quartz and the intense green Epidote creates a strong aesthetic impact, typical of alpine hydrothermal environments. Epidote crystals are well formed and add depth and complexity to the overall crystal structure.

This type of Quartz-Epidote association is highly appreciated among collectors for its visual contrast, alpine origin, and mineralogical interest.

Quartz is a silicate mineral composed of silicon dioxide with the chemical formula SiO₂. It belongs to the tectosilicate group and forms in a wide range of geological environments.

Epidote is a calcium aluminum iron sorosilicate mineral with the chemical formula Ca₂(Al,Fe)₃(SiO₄)₃(OH). It typically forms in metamorphic and hydrothermal environments.
