This is a beautiful natural specimen of Lepidolite, the lithium-rich mica prized by collectors for its distinctive violet-purple color, coming from the famous pegmatite fields of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The piece takes the form of a wide, flat plate built up from countless overlapping micaceous sheets, or 'books', stacked tightly together — a classic growth habit for this species that results from its perfect basal cleavage.

The color is deep and even across the piece, giving the specimen a striking visual impact and a refined, almost velvety appearance under light thanks to the pearly luster typical of mica minerals. Individual crystal faces and the fine, layered structure of the sheets can be clearly appreciated on close inspection, a testament to the good crystallization of this piece.

Minas Gerais is one of the world's most important sources of gem-quality lepidolite, with lithium-bearing pegmatites scattered across districts such as the Jequitinhonha and Doce valleys, where lepidolite typically forms alongside other lithium and boron minerals like tourmaline, spodumene and beryl. Specimens of this quality, size and intensity of color are genuinely sought after by mineral collectors worldwide.

A piece of great aesthetic value, equally suited to a display cabinet, a systematic mineral collection, or to anyone drawn to the natural beauty of well-formed mica crystals.
