This collector-grade specimen of Fluorite comes from the Lupita Mine, in the Sierra Descubridora range of Mapimí Municipality, Durango, Mexico — a district historically known for its zinc-lead-silver mineralization, within which fine secondary fluorite pockets have formed. The mine remains an active Zn-Pb-Ag deposit, and fluorite of this striking quality is only occasionally recovered as a secondary find alongside the base-metal ore.

The piece is defined by its intensely saturated purple color, developed over a pale, light-toned matrix that provides exceptional visual contrast. The crystallization follows the unusual granular, drusy habit locally nicknamed 'sugar' fluorite, in which countless tiny cubic-to-octahedral crystal faces catch the light across the surface, giving the specimen a sparkling, textured appearance quite different from the classic large, glassy fluorite cubes more commonly seen from Mexican localities.

The overall balance between color saturation, crystal texture, and the clean contrasting matrix gives this specimen strong display value, making it equally suited to a systematic mineral collection or as a striking decorative centerpiece.

Fluorite is calcium fluoride, CaF₂, and belongs to the halide mineral class.
