This attractive Chinese specimen showcases a rich crystallization of intense green Epidote resting on a matrix of glassy, gemmy Amethystine Quartz with a delicate rosy undertone. The Epidote forms small bladed, striated crystals gathered into loose radiating clusters and wheel-like groups across the quartz surface, a habit typical of the finest specimens from this find, creating a striking chromatic contrast that greatly enhances the visual and collectible value of the piece.

The specimen comes from the Hongxizhen mineral prospect in Meigu County, Sichuan Province, China, a small-scale hillside deposit historically worked directly by local farmers rather than by an industrial mining operation. The locality became well known among collectors for this distinctive Epidote-on-Amethystine-Quartz association during a productive period in the early-to-mid 2000s; supplies from that find have since largely dried up, making well-balanced pieces like this one progressively harder to find on the market today. The site is sometimes still referred to under the older, now-corrected name Hongquizhen, though Hongxizhen is the accurate transliteration of the original Chinese toponym.

The subtle pinkish cast within the quartz is a feature commonly associated with this deposit, typically linked to very fine hematite inclusions dispersed through the crystal lattice alongside the amethyst coloration. Overall, the specimen stands out for the quality of its crystallization and the balance between the two contrasting minerals, making it a fine addition to any systematic or aesthetic mineral collection.
