Among the group, one crystal contains a visible internal phantom: a ghost-like outline of an earlier growth stage, trapped within the later, clearer crystal growth — a genuinely interesting feature for collectors interested in crystal growth history rather than just outward beauty.

The warm golden-to-amber coloration typical of Villamassargia barite is generally attributed to trace iron oxide inclusions incorporated within the growth zones of the crystal lattice during formation, rather than to the barium sulfate itself, which is colorless to white in its pure form.
