A striking combination piece pairing glassy, lustrous celestine crystals against a matrix of intensely golden native sulfur. The strong chromatic contrast between the pale celestine and the vivid yellow host rock makes this specimen exceptionally decorative and desirable for display. It comes from the historic Floristella Mine near Enna, one of the emblematic sulfur-and-celestine localities of Sicily, now closed and increasingly sought after by collectors.

This is a genuinely eye-catching combination specimen of celestine on native sulfur, entirely natural and untreated, from the celebrated Floristella Mine near Enna, Sicily. The piece is defined by a vivid chromatic contrast: glassy, lustrous celestine crystals rest directly on a matrix of intensely golden-yellow sulfur, creating a striking visual balance between the pale, vitreous celestine and the saturated warm tone of the host rock.

The celestine individuals show the characteristic tabular to short-prismatic habit typical of the species, with well-defined faces and a bright vitreous luster that catches the light beautifully against the duller, waxy-to-resinous surface of the sulfur crust beneath. The sulfur itself forms a compact, richly colored base that anchors the celestine growth, giving the whole specimen a strong sense of depth and natural composition.

The Floristella Mine, together with the neighboring Grottacalda mine, was one of the most important and historically significant sulfur mines in Sicily, active from the late 18th century until its definitive closure in 1987. Today the site is preserved as part of the Floristella-Grottacalda Mining Park, a protected area of industrial archaeology, and specimens from this now-defunct locality are considered classic representatives of Sicilian mineralogy and are becoming progressively harder to find on the market.

With its bold aesthetic contrast, natural formation and connection to one of Italy's most symbolic mining districts, this specimen is an excellent addition to any mid-to-high level mineral collection, and equally suited as a striking display piece.
