The crystal faces are sharply defined, allowing the classic tabular habit of Baryte to be fully appreciated: flat, plate-like forms that commonly grow in parallel or sub-parallel groupings, exactly as seen on this piece.

The coloration is one of the specimen's strongest features: a bright, luminous white base combines with intense yellow tones across different crystals and zones, producing a lively bicolor effect rather than a flat, uniform hue. This kind of contrast is a hallmark of fine Chinese Baryte and significantly increases the aesthetic and display value of a piece.

The specimen comes from the Chang Guang Chong locality in China, a region known among collectors for producing well-crystallized Baryte specimens with good size and strong color contrast. China has, over the past two decades, become one of the most important modern sources of large, well-formed Baryte crystals on the international market, with fine material becoming progressively harder to find as classic pockets are exhausted.

It typically crystallizes as tabular to bladed crystals, very often occurring in clusters where individual crystals grow in parallel or near-parallel orientation, exactly as observed in this specimen's main crystal with its accompanying smaller crystals.

The coloration of this piece is a key feature: the white portions result from the essentially colorless nature of pure Baryte, while the yellow zones and crystals are typically caused by trace inclusions of iron oxides or organic/hydrocarbon material trapped within the crystal lattice during growth — a coloring mechanism commonly documented in Chinese Baryte specimens showing this type of yellow-white zonation. This produces the lively bicolor contrast visible across the specimen.
