This delicate amethyst scepter crystal comes from the Andilamena Quartz Quarries, one of the most distinctive amethyst localities in Madagascar. The specimen displays the classic "scepter" growth habit: a slender, pale lilac stem that terminates in a noticeably larger, more intensely colored amethyst head. The contrast between the light violet base and the deep purple crown is one of the most appreciated features of this growth type, and it is beautifully expressed here.

The crystal head is doubly terminated, with crisp, well-defined faces that catch the light and highlight the natural symmetry of the quartz structure. The overall formation is clean and undamaged, with excellent transparency in the amethyst zone, allowing the color and internal structure to be fully appreciated when properly lit.

Madagascar is geologically unusual in that its scepter quartz crystals frequently develop amethyst-colored heads, whereas scepter quartz from most other world localities tends to be smoky or colorless. This makes Andilamena specimens like this one a distinctive and sought-after example of the scepter habit among quartz collectors worldwide.

A compact, aesthetically refined piece, well suited both for a systematic mineral collection and as a striking display object thanks to its elegant color gradient and sharp crystal definition.
