This fine collector's specimen showcases two aesthetically paired, contact-twinned crystals of Almandine garnet, displaying an intense blood-red color that stands out beautifully against the pale, granular quartzite matrix on which they are seated. The juxtaposition of the dark, lustrous garnets with the lighter host rock produces a striking visual contrast that enhances both the scientific and aesthetic value of the piece.

The crystals show the classic rounded dodecahedral-trapezohedral habit typical of almandine garnet, with faces that catch the light and reveal the vitreous luster and internal quality of the crystallization. The pairing of the two individuals, grown in contact with one another, adds a distinctive structural interest that sets this piece apart from single, isolated garnet crystals.

The specimen comes from the Codera Valley (Val Codera), in the municipality of Novate Mezzola, Sondrio Province, Lombardy. This alpine locality is a well-known alluvial collecting area along the Codera stream, where boulders derived from garnet- and epidote-bearing amphibolites, quartzites and pegmatite dikes have historically yielded fine almandine and almandine-spessartine garnet crystals appreciated by collectors across Europe. Material is recovered directly from the streambed boulders rather than from an active mine, which makes well-crystallized, aesthetically balanced pairs like this one genuinely desirable on the collector's market.

Measuring 54 x 47 x 38 mm and weighing 78 g, this piece is a solid, display-ready cabinet specimen combining regional rarity, mineralogical interest and strong visual appeal.
