This is a completely natural Quartz specimen from the Itremo massif, one of the most prolific quartz-producing areas of Madagascar, located in the Ambatofinandrahana District of the Amoron'i Mania Region. The piece is dominated by a large, well-formed crystal reaching 14 cm in length, showing well-developed prismatic faces and a bright, glassy luster that highlights the harmonious growth of the individual and the overall quality of the specimen.

The overall specimen measures 316 x 247 x 154 mm and weighs 4675 g, placing it firmly in the Museum Size category thanks to its generous overall dimensions, while the dominant crystal itself corresponds to a substantial Medium/Large Cabinet piece. The crystal faces are sharp and well-defined, reflecting light strongly across the terminations, a typical feature of quartz grown slowly in open hydrothermal cavities.

The Itremo massif consists of metamorphosed sedimentary rocks, now quartzites and marbles, crosscut by thousands of low-temperature hydrothermal quartz veins. It is considered the source of the majority of quartz specimens marketed as coming from Madagascar, and it is still actively worked today by local miners using traditional, small-scale methods.

This specimen displays a well-developed prismatic habit with sharp crystal faces, typical of quartz grown slowly in open hydrothermal cavities within the metamorphosed quartzite and marble sequences of the Itremo massif, where thousands of low-temperature hydrothermal veins crosscut the host rock. The trigonal symmetry of quartz produces the characteristic six-sided prism terminated by rhombohedral faces, clearly visible on well-grown individuals such as the main crystal of this piece.
