This is a superb, fully natural specimen of Hematoid Quartz (also known in the trade as Ferruginous or Red Quartz) from the Tinejdad area in Morocco's Drâa-Tafilalet Region, a locality that rose to prominence among collectors after notable material began circulating around 2015. The dominant crystal in this cluster reaches an impressive 10.5 cm, standing out among a dense, three-dimensional group of intergrown individuals that together create a striking sculptural presence.

The crystals display the classic habit associated with this Moroccan occurrence: steep, pyramidal terminations with little to no development of prism faces, tightly packed together yet each still showing clear individual definition. This texture, combined with the saturated brick-red coloration running through the entire piece, gives the specimen exceptional visual depth and a glassy, faceted brilliance across the crystal faces.

Specimens of this kind are typically recovered from semi-spherical, geode-like vugs that are broken open to extract the enclosed crystal groups, which explains the naturally formed, cluster-like architecture visible here rather than growth upon a separate host matrix. The intense red color is not a surface treatment but an intrinsic feature of the quartz itself, a point that distinguishes genuine material of this type from artificially dyed or heat-treated imitations sometimes found on the market.

In this specimen, the deep, uniform red color is caused by pervasive inclusions of iron oxide, most likely hematite (Fe2O3) and possibly some goethite, dispersed through the quartz structure during or shortly after crystal growth. This is the same mechanism responsible for the varietal names Hematoid, Ferruginous, or Red Quartz used interchangeably for this Moroccan material.

The crystals show a distinctive habit typical of this locality: steep pyramidal terminations with virtually no prism faces developed, and individuals tightly intergrown into a compact cluster while still retaining clear crystallographic definition between one another. Material of this type is generally recovered from semi-spherical, geode-like vugs within the host rock, which are broken open to free the enclosed crystal groups, explaining the naturally self-supporting, matrix-free architecture of the specimen.
