These playa-lake sequences yield sharp, often fluorescent crystals of \u003cstrong\u003ecolemanite\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eulexite\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003etincal\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eboracite\u003c\/strong\u003e, meyerhofferite, inyoite and hydroboracite, making Turkish borates a staple of systematic collections worldwide.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBeyond borates, Turkey offers striking specialty species. The \u003cstrong\u003eKop Dağları\u003c\/strong\u003e range and \u003cstrong\u003eKop Krom Mine\u003c\/strong\u003e in Erzurum Province are the classic source of magenta-pink \u003cstrong\u003ekämmererite\u003c\/strong\u003e, a chromium-rich variety of \u003cstrong\u003eclinochlore\u003c\/strong\u003e prized for its vivid color within the chlorite group, associated with ophiolitic \u003cstrong\u003echromite\u003c\/strong\u003e deposits also worked historically around \u003cstrong\u003eGuleman\u003c\/strong\u003e in Elazığ Province. \u003cstrong\u003eMuğla\u003c\/strong\u003e Province is the source of gem-quality \u003cstrong\u003ediaspore\u003c\/strong\u003e, traded as color-changing Zultanite. Skarn and eclogite occurrences around the \u003cstrong\u003eÇine\u003c\/strong\u003e district of Aydın Province, including the type locality of \u003cstrong\u003eAlabanda\u003c\/strong\u003e, have produced fine \u003cstrong\u003ealmandine garnet\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eepidote\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003ezircon\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003ediopside\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003evesuvianite\u003c\/strong\u003e; Turkey is in fact the type locality for some 14 mineral species. The carbonatite-hosted \u003cstrong\u003eKızılcaören\u003c\/strong\u003e deposit near Eskişehir, one of the country's most studied rare-earth occurrences, produces \u003cstrong\u003ebastnäsite\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003ebarite\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003efluorite\u003c\/strong\u003e, while the \u003cstrong\u003eSofular\u003c\/strong\u003e carbonatite complex further east hosts \u003cstrong\u003efluorite\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003ebritholite-(Ce)\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eTurkey's volcanic terrains add further collector appeal: obsidian from the \u003cstrong\u003eCappadocia\u003c\/strong\u003e region, sepiolite (meerschaum) from \u003cstrong\u003eEskişehir\u003c\/strong\u003e, zeolites such as \u003cstrong\u003eclinoptilolite\u003c\/strong\u003e from \u003cstrong\u003eManisa-Gördes\u003c\/strong\u003e, and banded agates from the \u003cstrong\u003eAnkara-Çubuk\u003c\/strong\u003e plain and the \u003cstrong\u003eAlmus\u003c\/strong\u003e deposits of Tokat Province. Western Anatolia's long antimony-mining tradition has also produced sharp, metallic \u003cstrong\u003estibnite\u003c\/strong\u003e crystals.
